Some things about Mormonism and The Book of Mormon (the musical) according to a real life Mormon.
I want to preface this by saying that first, yes I have seen the show and I loved it. I also want to say that while I was raised Mormon, I no longer actively practice and I’ve recently been trying to decide if it’s what I really want from my life. The doctrine itself is beautiful and I’ll always hold it quite close to me, but there’s just some things I gotta figure out for myself.
“It’s sad, really, to see someone who will fight for gay rights turn around and make a jab at another group of people. I just think that if you’re going to promote acceptance, you really do need to be accepting of all people yourself. That includes the religious nuts and crazies and Mormons out there.”
